Math Moments
Homework is designed to enhance learning and promote mastery of previously learned subject matter. Please help your child as much as needed to complete their required assignments. Frustration and tears are not a part of homework. Please don't hesitate to contact me if your child is overwhelmed by a subject. I am here to help in any way that I can. Guided practice is an integral part of learning and should be made a priority for families, even on busy nights. A maximum of 20-30 minutes is all that will be expected of your 3rd grader. Thank you for your partnership in education!
Math-Stretch Your Thinking
Remember that you child may attempt the stretch your thinking problems, but please don't let them get frustrated. I will go over the problems at the beginning of the next day's math lesson. This is a great challenge for the advanced math students.
Report Cards
Please know that standards based report cards show how your child is performing with a certain skill at a certain moment in time. Expectations also increase in all areas as the year progresses. Please know that a 2 or a 3 is just a target area for future growth.

Take Home Books
Book bags will be sent home with all students as the year progresses. They will come home on Monday or Tuesday of the week and need to be returned on The following Monday. I will add new books each week. The books are designed specifically for your child's reading level. There is a parent page and a student page so that you can partner read together. If you find a book too difficult for your child, just jot me a note and I will adjust their take home level. Students should be able to read their portion of these books independently. You can listen to them read after they practice a few times. We are working on building fluency . Repeated readings are really great practice to develop this skill. Happy Reading
Highlights
We use our one to one devices daily. There are new sites being adding to my learning games page so keep checking the website for new learning games to sharpen your child's skills in a fun and motivational way.
Spelling Tests-Fridays
If you can send in an inexpensive set of earbuds for your child's personal use in the classroom it would be greatly appreciated. I will pick up some pairs in case some families are unable to.
We will have many class movies like this one.
I was selected as True Blue teacher of the week for always greeting my students with a kind smile in the morning!
Happy Spring!!!!
